Finally painting my masterpiece…

Hello, friends.

The title of this post may seem confusing at first, but it alludes to a song that I first discovered shortly after Chris’ passing. It’s originally by Bob Dylan, but my favourite version is by The Band.

Oh the hours we spent inside the Colosseum
Dodging lions and wasting time
Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle I could hardly stand to see ’em
Well it sure has been a long hard climb

I first heard those words on the same day I heard that Chris had passed, and misheard the last line: ‘it sure has been a long hard fight’. Achingly appropriate, but it took me some time to be able to sing the correct lyric. In the same way as Chris used ‘I won’t accept defeat’ as her ‘mantra’, one line of ‘Masterpiece’ has become mine. ‘Some day everything’s gonna be different, when I paint my masterpiece.’

The past five years have been quite a journey for me, but with the evolution of this blog into a true community, I feel as though I’m finally beginning to paint my masterpiece. It’s an honour to share this journey with all of you.

Wishing you peace and strength on your journeys,
