NaBloPoMo: Putting It Into Words

Spending time today thinking about the act of putting our experience into words. There are certain moments when it strikes me as impossible, but I am fortunate enough to have trusted friends with whom I can discuss it. Anyway- more poetry.

Putting It Into Words

Sometimes it gets stuck in my throat
I want to share my memories with the world
But I can’t.

They end up trapped behind a wall of emotion
That comes out in a strangled squeak
Or a voice not quite a voice
In which I don’t often speak.

If I only knew the answer
To why it happens this way
I would take note of every detail
And the demons I would slay.

I don’t want to forget her
I want to remember her well
But that is more of a challenge
When reminded of living hell.

Wishing you peace and strength on your journeys,
